Free Credit Report
Selecting and rejecting loan applications on the strength of their ability to repay back the money is a common way to safeguard the reputation of both the bank or other lending companies, and the profit they make from providing the services. Credit reports enable the lending provider to determine the amount they can arrange, and the level of interest to charge.
Being denied the use of these facilities doesn’t mean that access to a free credit report is also denied. It is important to view the report once a year, to prevent issues such as identity theft, fraud, and errors in your personal details from cropping up. It is also useful in giving advice to raise your score, and should enable you to improve your financial situation. The report is free, and contains all your personal details, such as marital status, current and previous addresses, employment history, as well as your credit history.
This is useful for potential employers; they use the report to assess how financially stable a person is, and how much experience they have in their position.
To make it easier upon consumers today, your report is available for a small fee online from many agencies. If you request a report more than once a year, or you wish to view your score alongside the report, most companies will charge for this. It is also possible for your report to be mailed to you, but again, this will cost. However, three main companies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) offer Annual Credit Report services, and this is free.
